Evanescence - "Watching the crowd helps us get into the show" (2012)

Troy, Will, Amy, Terry, and Tim

An interview with the whole members of Evanescence when they were in Santiago, Chile in October 2012.

In this interview, they said that watching the crowd jump up and down and enjoy the show also helped them put on a great concert. If the crowd was boring, it was also boring for them to play.

Here's another short interview:

Evanescence - "We Don't Get Into Politics and Religion" (2012)

An interview backstage with Evanescence before they played at Pepsi Music Festival 2012 in Argentina.

The interviewer asked a question about the U.S. presidential election in 2012, and they said that they didn't get into politics and religion (even though some people considered them as a Christian band back in the day) because they had so many fans with different beliefs, and that all of the band members also had different beliefs. Will Hunt added that talking politics would never end up good as everyone had different opinions.

The interviewer also asked of whether music could be mixed with politics, and since Evanescence never talked about politics in their songs, Amy Lee said it's everyone's choice but it's not theirs.

Here's another interview with them:

In the previous tour, The Open Door, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray were still in the band. The fans were very enthusiastic, and the band members had a chance to visit some parts of Buenos Aires. They even went to a fortune teller (who was apparently not a real fortune teller).

A video tweeted by Evanescence's leading lady Amy Lee. It shows when the band and crew were at a Mexican restaurant (while in Peru) singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" with Troy playing the guitar.

However, Amy apparently forgot the lyrics and sang "the something sleeps tonight"

Prior to their first concert in Peru on October 25, 2012, Evanescence did a press conference.

When one of the journalists (from Peru.com) asked Amy Lee about how difficult was it writing without the band's co-founder and former guitarist Ben Moody, she said that it had been going pretty well since it had been 9 years since he left.

She also stated that South American fans were extremely passionate and really cared about music, and that it was something they'd been missing in the U.S.

This is the very first live performance (October 4, 2012) of the unreleased song "If You Don't Mind" by Evanescence.

Prior to the performance of the song, lead singer Amy Lee admitted that they'd been working to share the song for 7 years and that Porto Alegre, Brazil was the perfect place to play it for the very first time.

The Porto Alegre show was the first after the band took a break from the Carnival of Madness Tour 2012.

Previously, the preview of the studio version of song leaked on YouTube.

Rad After Party Karaoke - "Bohemian Rhapsody" (2012)

Evanescence (well, you can only see Amy and Will here), Halestorm, Cavo, and New Medicine having a rad karaoke time. They blasted out Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Evanescence Surprised By How Many Guy Fans Showed Up at Their Shows (2012)

An Evanescence interview uploaded by EMI Argentina (who also uploaded the unplugged session at Big FM Germany). Apparently, this video was taken when they were touring in Germany around May 2012, but EMI Argentina uploaded this in August 2012.

Bassist Tim McCord told the interviewer that getting a 3 or 4-day safari in Africa was one of their favorite experiences, and Troy McLawhorn revealed that he was surprised of how many guys came to their show because "most guys like super heavy stuff" and their music had more elements than just raw rock.

Find out more on what they thought about their long-awaited come back, their favorite places of touring, the song "Lost In Paradise", rules within the band while touring, and others in this video.

Trying To Categorize Evanescence? Stop It - NJ.Com Interview (2012)

In an interesting interview by NJ.com (before playing at the House of Blues, Atlantic City, for Carnival of Madness Tour), Evanescence was asked several questions, including about how could they be categorized - metal, rock, goth, pop genre or anything else.

In some interviews, Amy Lee had stated that they were more of an alternative rock band, and in another she said that labels in general could just go away. In this interview, drummer Will Hunt said that they couldn't really be categorized, just like how would you categorize Coheed and Cambria.

While people often regard Evanescence as "goth", Amy Lee emphasized in an interview on Atlantic City Weekly that she didn't want to be tossed in that bin and that she only wanted to make music.

Evanescence Played "Disappear" for the First Time Ever (2012)

Just as what Amy Lee revealed in an interview on Rockline Radio, after so many shows, the band finally played the song "Disappear" for the first time ever on July 31, 2012 in Springfield, IL.

The live version of the song itself had an extended bridge which made it even more awesome :-)

Google Hangout with Evanescence (2012)

Evanescence having fun with the Google effect

Note: The video lasts for 27 minutes, but there was actually a technical problem from 05:31 to 19:00.

Evanescence "hanging out" with the fans during the Carnival of Madness Tour on July 31, 2012 and having fun with the "Google effects" (seems that Amy liked the virtual cat mask one).

Evanescence and the fans were using Google+ mobile app to join a hangout. The fans asked some questions and the band answered them. When asked about a specific goal before they step away from the music business, the band answered that they wanted to have "a show on the moon".

Carnival of Madness was the first tour after the band took a break (the last show was at Heineken Jammin' Festival in Italy, July 5, 2012).

Evanescence Crew at Work + My Heart Is Broken Unplugged (2012)

Update August 2012:

You can watch how the stage installation was done (how they set up the stage, drums, guitars, piano, etc). At at 03:25 you can also see Drew Foppe, Troy's guitar technician, who was interviewed by Das Ding when the band was performing at Rock Am Ring 2012.

In this video, there is only one performance of "My Heart Is Broken". If you'd like to watch the other songs they played plus Q&A sessions (amateur shot, recorded by a fan - update: there are also other pro-shot videos for "Bring Me To Life", "Lithium", "The Change", "All That I'm Living For", and "Lost In Paradise"), you can go to this post.

Evanescence About Fake Social Media Accounts (2012)

Andrea Laffranchi from ViviMilano interviewing Evanescence before they played at the 3-day rock festival, Heineken Jammin' in 2012.

When asked about their activities using social media like Facebook and Twitter, Will Hunt revealed that  Amy and Terry used to mistakenly talk to a fake account claiming it was Will himself. He then contacted the impostor to shut down the account.

If you want to interact with the band, follow @AmyLeeEV, @Tim_McCord, and @TerryBalsamo on twitter. Will Hunt and Troy McLawhorn can be reached on Facebook.

Amy also gave an interview here.

Evanescence at Heineken Jammin' Festival (2012)

Some highlights from the Heineken Jammin' Festival in Italy on July 6, 2012. Other bands that also performed at the festival include The Cure, Lost Prophets, Seether, and The Prodigy.

Previously, they did an interview with ViviMilano, and Amy Lee did an interview with ComingSoon.

Lead singer Amy Lee received the news that her grandmother passed away, so that the band decided to cancel their next show at Sonisphere Festival in France, and went back to the United States before headlining the Carnival of Madness Tour starting July 31, 2012.

Lemmy Kilmister - Listen To Them, You Won't Be Sorry (2011)

The lead vocalist and bassist of the heavy metal band Motorhead, Lemmy Kilmister, admitted that he liked Evanescence. Lemmy has stated in several interviews that he indeed listened to the band.

According to an interview in 2007 by Stay Thirsty Media, he said that Evanescence was great with excellent songs, arrangement, and production and that he had seen them live in Las Vegas.

He revealed some of his favorite records (but he also mentioned his own band, Motorhead), and told us "listen to all of them, you won't be sorry".

This video was uploaded by Rhapsody in March 2011, months before the third studio album of Evanescence was released. In 2012, Amy Lee posted a photo of her and Lemmy backstage when they were touring in Germany.
